Pre-Registration Is Now Live For Apps On The Play Store, Starting With Terminator Genisys: Revolution

If you're looking to the next Terminator game, enter line – literally. The Play Store now allows customers to Pre-register for several apps and games. The first title for this honor is Terminator Genisys:Revolution by Glu Mobile. No price or release date is listed within the app page, even so the game will most likely become available round the same time since the movie, which hits theaters on July 1st.

First found in a teardown with the Play Store, Google is now allowing select publishers that will put their apps and games for "pre-registration" before they can be ready available for sale. These titles have a very Pre-register button in which the Buy / Install button would normally live. Putting your name about the list won't cost anything, nor can it be an agreement to acquire. Pre-registration is merely designed to give users a notification if your app is finally released, at which time it might be purchased and installed to compatible devices. If you change your mind about finding a heads-up, we have a one-tap Unregister button to clear out yourself through the list.

Pre-registration will truly become a big portion of promotions for highly anticipated games, particularly movie tie-ins like Terminator. This should also end the practice of publishing app listings with zero compatible devices.
