Cyanogen will continue to support OnePlus One in India; Micromax withdraws lawsuit

Last October, Android ROM developer Cyanogen reached a special agreement with India's Micromax to push the latter's distinctive line of Yu branded smartphones. This move gave the impression to take OnePlus unexpectedly. The company had just begun to rollout its Cyanogen powered OnePlus One in India, and was quickly banned by an Indian court just 15 days after the high profile launch in the nation. But the court lifted the ban, agreeing with OnePlus that it is flagship spec'd phone is just not competition with the entry-level Yu line.

Cyanogen and OnePlus ended their partnership after last month, as well as the suit in India continues to be withdrawn by Micromax. This allows Cyanogen to go on supporting the OnePlus One in India with OTA updates. Cyanogen plans on supporting the handset, not only in India, but globally also.

"OnePlus remains vindicated on the recent trials and tribulations containing surrounded this company due to legal tussle with Micromax over exclusivity on CyanogenOS. We are pleased to confirm that all 'OnePlus One' users in India continues to receive OTA updates from Cyanogen in-line with the users in markets around from the world."-Vikas Agarwal, General Manager - India, OnePlus
